Part of our group had the opportunity to tear down the roof of the feeding center at Pastor Angel's church and rebuild it! Through this opportunity, our guys met a wonderful man by the name of ERNESTO. ERNESTO was a "gentle giant." The men and boys learned how to weld and enjoyed some great food and watermelon!
Part of our group had the opportunity to prepare and serve the food at the feeding center at Pastor Angel's church. They were a blessing to the moms who brought their young children each day. After serving at the feeding center, this group led a VBS time each afternoon where many children and parents laughed, played and learned about God's love.

Tuesday - Friday of each week 50 - 100 mothers and children come to the Feeding Center to have a filling and nutritious noon meal. All of the mothers that come are either pregnant or nursing a new baby.
Each day our team helped prepare and serve the food as well as do the dishes and other clean up duties. We even learned to fry Plantain - right Mark and Julie?
We also used the morning time to get to know the mothers and to play and do activities with the children. We showed them love, found new ways to communicate across languages, and we invited them to the afternoon VBS.
Each day during VBS Julie Marlow and Stephanie Bell taught Health Education to the mothers and children. The mothers as well as the children seemed to learn from each lesson. We had 35 - 60 children each day and every team member took responsibility to tell the Bible Story, develop and act out a skit to reinforce the story, do puppets, to lead games, to do crafts, etc. I saw every one of our team members grow as Christian leaders. We had a VERY creative team that consisted of: Stephanie Bell, Liz Dawson, Joy Beth DeWitt, Mark Harmon-Vaught, Kim Hough, Julie Marlow and me - Vicki Hollon.
On our last day we had a carnival that was a big success and helped bring more children to the church. It was great fun.
